Extra Money
No More Paper in the Office
Pollution is a huge problem in the world at the moment and we need to look at cleaning it up as soon as possible. One of the reasons that we have seen an increase in pollution is because of the fact that there are is so much paper being printed and disposed on a daily basis.
But offices haven’t still fully updated to modern standards, I have been into offices that literally still use filing cabinets, fax machines and paper print outs. So below are my 3 steps to success to make your office that little bit greener.
1) Get rid of the old dusty fax machine and sign up to a fax to email service online, this way you will be able to receive and send all of your faxes digitally and eliminate the use of paper.
2) Throw the filing cabinet out and get yourself a central server where all your documents will be stored.
3) Make the office use all of the latest technology implementations, there is no need to use any paper anymore so scrap it all and jump into the technological realm.
If you are in an office then you should take note of the government’s efforts to go green and help clear up your work place. There is no need to waste precious trees and paper, instead look at giving back to the world and keeping your offices clean and friendly.
There are plenty more benefits that can come from this, it will help make your office a lot more efficient. You will actually save money in the long run believe it or not and that extra money can go towards improving efficiency further. It’s a mindset that all businesses should get into really.

The Best Water Filters Available
Cheap water filters do very little to purify drinking water. About the only thing they are good for is costing consumers a lot of extra money when purchasing replacement filters. Yet a high quality filter will give the owner years of service, thus saving money. Generally, if it costs less than a couple hundred dollars, then put it back on the shelf. Let’s take a look at a few simple steps to take when buying the best water filters to ensure that they will be cost efficient, highly effective and last for years to come.
Like everything else, when it comes to the best water filters, quality tends to cost money. Typically, a good quality water purification system will cost a couple hundred dollars to buy, but will end up saving you money in the long run because they give you delicious and clean water that is fit for human consumption for a fraction of the cost of replacement filters.
If you take a look at loose carbon filters, you will discover that they are actually bacteria factories. They allow oxygen to exist within the filter, which encourages and enhances the growth of bacteria. Although this type of filter is very cheap to purchase, it is expensive in the long run, since the filters must be replaced frequently.
Distillation is effective when filtering bacteria, solids, sediments and organic or chemical contaminants that will not evaporate. There are some chemical contaminants, such as MTBE, that will evaporate, so distillation is not effective in filtering that.
Ultraviolet (UV) light is sometimes used in conjunction with other filters to kill bacteria, and has been found to be a very effective tool. The light affects an organism’s DNA, so it cannot replicate. If it cannot replicate, it is harmless.
Reverse osmosis (RO) is a filter which reduces fluoride, radium and numerous other contaminants to a very high degree, although it does have its limitations. There are a large number of contaminants found in water that will easily pass through an RO filter. Reverse osmosis is also used in conjunction with other filters to be very effective, though the process does remove the healthy minerals as well. RO by itself is capable of reducing contaminants such as radium, arsenic, barium lead, nitrates and nitrites, as well as giardia and selenium that are found in tap water.
How do you know if the claims made by the company are correct and true? If the filters are not certified by the NSF, (the National Sanitation Foundation) then simply put it back on the shelf. Those manufacturers of quality water filtration systems put their filters through rigorous testing by the NSF and are proud to have their certification. NSF tests and certifies water treatment units to determine which the best water filters are for consumers.

Environmental Reasons for Recycling Gold
If you were to be able to collect all of the gold which has been mined and extracted from the planet since man began searching for this precious metal, you would have a cube of gold some 22 meters (about 70 feet) along the side – imagine all the gold found since time began is just a cube 70 feet by 70 feet by 70 feet – that fits in a very small office building or a large house.
Shifting, mining, blasting, dissolving in acid, land clearance, people clearance, tons of earth, toxic pollution of billions of gallons of water, and the eradication of numerous species of plant and animal life – all of these things are required in order to extract that relatively small amount of gold.
That doesn’t even count the amounts of energy that have to be used to power all these activities.
The environmental cost of mining and extracting gold is simply fantastically, enormous – which is one reason it is currently trading at $900 an ounce!
Fortunately, there is a simple and very easy-win for those who are environmentally conscious and also want to be rewarded for their green efforts – recycling gold and other precious metals costs a fraction of what it does to extract it from the ground. The vast bulk of the carbon footprint has already been created in getting the gold mined and worked into rings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewelry items.
With a combination of severe recession causing people to look for ways to raise extra money and at the same time, savvy investors looking to invest in gold because the stock market is not a safe place to invest anymore – the price of gold is now historically high and sellers are getting top dollar on their pieces.
Using the following numbers from a “prodcutive” mine, here is how you work out the environmental impact of producing just one little ounce of gold
30 tonnes of ore are required
400 tonnes of earth are required to be shifted to extract the 30 tons of ore
3,000 Kw of electricity are required
4,000 gallons of water are used
Remember – all this just to produce one ounce of the bright shiny stuff!
Though the vast majority of the world’s gold has been extracted since 1910 (all those California gold rushes helped settle the American West but they contributed a tiny drop in the ocean for the world’s gold reserves), it is thought that 85% of the total reserves are still in the ground. While “new” gold is mined worldwide, gold is found on every continent, there is a growing recognition that mining gold is an extremely highly polluting activity and yet so much extracted gold is readily available and sitting in bullion deposit centers such as Fort Knox, KY or the Federal Reserve Bank of New York simply doing nothing!
Recycling existing gold is clearly a very green and very profitable exercise and if ever there was an environmentally sound, win-win situation, selling old gold is definitely it!
DIY Wind And Solar Power
Most people are now constantly searching for alternative sources of cheaper energy. Some of the ones that are now being prefered are wind and solar. In the article that follows the reasons they are gaining popularity are discussed in detail.
The focus of my writing will revolve around: Wood Boiler For Creating Electricity, Solar Wind Power and Efficiency and wind power electricity
DIY wind and power systems are taking the stress out of life. You do not have to follow the kids around and make sure the lights are switched off. With solar and wind power after you install it then you won’t be paying any energy costs. The reduction on the money for electricity bills will amaze you. The extra money will allow you to direct your money to other important things.
The electrical power produced from wind and solar will never run out. The extra power that you produce can be stored in batteries and can be used whenever the need arises. You can maximise the amount of power that you generate by installing more panels. Isn’t that a big task you ask?
No; building your own DIY wind and solar power systems is very simple. The Instructional and DIY manuals available allow you to be able to construct and install your own system within at least two days. So considering a time frame of a month you can have your house completely operating on green electricity. The guides will have step by step illustrations to simplify this task.
Most of the power sources that have been in use are very polluting to the environment. The wind and solar power systems do not affect the environment and therefore thought of as green ways of generating power. The only thing that could be stopping you from trying this is not knowing where to find the material.
This is not a problem as any reliable DIY wind and solar power system will normally have details about where you can purchase the required components. There will also give you an idea on the price you can expect to pay. But it should not be more than $250.
Environmentally friendly power sources – Solar Power
Home made solar panels are a great way to save money on heating costs and are relatively simple to make. A simple solar panel you can make for yourself can help supplement the heat for your home or can heat a pool saving you money and allowing you to use less fossil fuel! Who couldn’t use a little extra money these days and with a few simple tool, supplies and steps you can soon enjoy your own home made solar panels.
To make the panels you will want to build a frame that fits on a south facing outside wall if you are in the northern hemisphere, north facing if you are in the southern hemisphere. Why customize the solar panels to fit around the window, however the larger the solar panel is the more heat it can coolect. The frame should be about six inches deep. Attach black plastic on the back of the frame and place against the wall.
Attached a 4mil clear plastic, sealing the whole frame. The black plastic will collect more heat from the sun and store it between the clear and the black material. Make a whole on the top and the bottom to allow the heat into your home. This allows the heat to pour into your home and the hole at the bottom allows for cold air exchange.
Turning your home or office into a greener environmentally friendly place will not only be beneficial for you but for the planet as well.
When you build your own solar panels you will save money and the planet. Build your own and save money!
it is easier than you think to start building your own solar panels and create your own power.
