Britain Sees Huge Heating Bill
The cold front was a terrible time for many people in the UK this month and last and caused problems for ill people and elderly as well as people that just hate the cold weather! We certainly could have handled this a lot better than we did but as a country we managed to battle through it. We have spend a stupid amount of money on this and as a country have spent over £1.2 billion over just a few weeks and that has turned out to be a lot more than the average winter.
In The Office
I have to say that the timing wasn’t brilliant as many offices had not had people in them for around about 10 days which means they were going to take a while to get that heat back into them again. The offices were left cold for a bit of time which is why the heating was turned up to the max. So many shops did also have their heating turned up because of the weather, this was partly done to keep customers happy. On top of this many stores were getting in things like convector heater and a fan heater to keep the staff warm.
At Home
So many people were already freezing and once the cold front came in they has just reached the end of it and had enough so they decided to just turn up the heating. Many children and parents were still at home because of the snow and people are just not prepared to be cold when they are in their homes all day long.
Problems
There do not seem to be massive problems for the government as they are getting the money from the taxpayers however it is a bit tricky to keep buying in more gas and many people are going to find that their heating bills this month are going to be very high indeed. Of course you could just get portable heaters for occasions such as this.
Environmentally Friendly Patio Heaters Released
Despite the nights getting darker and the weather getting colder, we still want to try and enjoy as much of the outside as possible. Luckily, there has been a brand new range of electric patio heatershave been released that will help you do this.
Chillchaser, a UK based company that was featured on Dragons Den, recently released a new range of patio heaters. The 3 are called Zeus, Neptune and Poseidon, each one coming at different price ranges and with different features.
What makes these patio heaters so much better than others is their new style and great range of features. These new heaters look nothing like any other conventional patio heaters. The design of these new patio heaters is so different because they don’t use the conventional gas heating system that regular heaters use. Each of the heaters use a new carbon fibre heating system which emits more focused heat and emits absolutely no CO2 gasses. Each of the heating tubes are replaceable and offer up to 8,000 hours of heat, pretty impressive.
Other great features that are included in Chillchasers’ patio heaters include an infrared sensor which detects movement and turns the heater on or off. They also come with a safety tip over feature which turns the heater off automatically if it’s knocked over.
The first of the three and the cheapest is the Neptune. Alongside the features named above, the Neptune heater also comes with a dome light fitted to the top which offers 360 degree lighting. This means that you can keep out of the dark while staying warm. At £299, it’s not a bad price for the huge range of features available.
The middle of the range heater is the Zeus. The Zeus patio heater is very similar to the Neptune because it also has a light fitted to the top of the unit. The only difference between the Zues and the Netune is that the Zeus light doesn’t offer 360 degree lighting. Costing £449, I’d rather settle for the Neptune.
The most expensive of the 3 heaters is the Poseidon which isn’t actually waterproof, despite it’s water based name. What makes the Poseidon the most expensive and the coolest is that it has a media player at the top of the unit with a 7 inch screen and built in speakers. With a price tag of £849, you’re paying alot for the entertainment value.
If only they released an indoor version which would replace standard portable heaters or fan heatersas they are pretty clunky.
Wheres the Summer Gone
Do you know what I realized today? The summer holidays are virtually over and September is almost here. I was looking through a mag when I noticed the face of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh. Yes thats correct it was because the 2009 version of the X Factor was starting soon. I mean the year has literally flew by so quick, it seems as though the X Factor has just finished. And we all know that the X Factor signals the beginning of the winter season. So where has the summer gone so vast. I mean I did not experience any of it.
Let us briefly cast our minds back, I believe it was in June when we had about a weeks worth of sunshine, but I unfortunatley was not around to experience it on that occasion. We then had a huge bout of rain until the heat wave struck again for around a week. Since then it has been a ceaseless course of rain and drizzle.
Well now it looks too late to come back as we head for the Autumn and winter months, so we now have to think about switching on and checking the Heating Oil. There are a few things that you should be looking at doing to keep your costs lower this wintertime.
First of all you should order any kind of warming oil you need at once, you may still be able to get some cheaper prices while you get in their ahead of time, secondly is to plan the winter. I acknowledge that a lot of people merely switch the heaters on when they feel it getting a bit chilly, but this is altogether the incorrect thing to do. I mean its not cold every day of the winter, so why run up your bills?
